CAT COW SEQUENCE

Taking the spine in its physical and more importantly, its energetic flow and tap into what lies beneath, what we store in it and how to heal invisible ailments that grow into physical ailments. Approached through a thorough manipulation of the central axis and spinal column, this interconnects the two pathways-the emotional and the physical, and the open flow of prana (energy) and oxygen from the brain to the tail. Keeping in check that the mind and posture are in neutral, not proud, not humble but in the centre.

The incineration Centre where we process food, calories, emotions and toxins. This is the abode of personal power, will, ambition and action and focusing with perfect discipline on this naval energy centre, yields about great organisation of the body. Postural Alignment & Adjustment. The ‘centre’ I am referring to here is not the part of the body built with abdominal crunches at the gym. It is lodged on a much deeper level in the form of an invisible strength. That core is the one place that will keep you together when an injury threatens your career; when a relationship ends; when illness strikes and when life decides to throw you into a maelstrom.

Look at the spine as a garden hose. If it has kinks the water cant flow from spigot to nozzle, similarly the bodies channels being blocked, impeded prana to flow.

So we take the spine in its physical and more importantly, its energetic flow and learn what lies beneath, what we store in it and how to heal invisible ailments that grow into physical ailments
In order for a Yogi to stay healthy, obviously his arteries and veins must remain open for the flow of blood, similarly on the more esoteric side, in order to release the mind and ultimately connect with the higher self, the subtle channels especially those within the central axis or spinal column) must remain pure so prana can flow freely. In Hatha Yoga these two pathways interconnect. So like blocked arteries impede the flow of blood , similarly impure and coiled chakras and nadis affect physical and emotional wellbeing. 


module 5 - yin yang & the salutation of the sun

This is a fine blend of balance between the male and female, the hard & soft, strength & flexibility and the rise and fall both in practice and in life itself. This taps deeper into the breathe and the energy of our emotions whether expressed or stored.

Male energy-the giver, totally associated with fire, action, strength and glory. The inhale means you are taking in the colossal power of the universe. Female-the receiver, connected to the element of water, It is fluid, flexible and patient. The exhaling means you are in total surrender.
